Anybody know anything about the 1600 sohc & dohc motors they put in the mid ninetys 323's and laser's and capri's ??????

I wanna know whether i can build a hybrid .....i.e. is the block the same etc :gtfo:

Mostly the same.. The B6T had a slightly stronger block..

Bore/Stroke etc was all very similar across the board.

B6 was N/A and iirc ran a slightly higher compression than that of its turbo variant.

Only minimal though..

Hybrid between these two.. My mate George has built a heap of these motors for his TX3s and Familias. All very interchangeable to say the least..

My first car was a 1.8 TX3 of 1991 So mid 90's 1.6 were only carbie. Earlier 1.6 scored injection for the KC/E series.

Yeah i'm pretty sure its the ubiquitous B6 donk.

I have a spare sohc & 2 spare dohc's

Do you think i could just bolt a dohc head & inlet manifold on (it has extractors) or am i gunna have computer issues???

The sohc is an auto and all three spare cars (big surprise, ol fart bought in bulk :woot: ) are manuals

Why do i do these things to myself :headbange

I don't believe you'll run into too much of an issue..

I'd run a STOICHMETER just to be safe..

Depending how the computer reacts.. It may lean out up high.. Which of course you don't want..

Compression will be a smidge higher and I THINK there's also a need to swap the alternators too, from SOHC to DOHC..

But Brian.. I say Go for Launch!
