Hi Guys,
I am new to the forum, have just purchased a 10/97 TF Advance - manual for 8100$ from Auction. It has 67000KM's and March 05 rego and requires its next service at 75000KM. Its in v clean condition in and out and a sort of grey blue metalic colour.
So far have found the back elec windows both dont work and there is no power/light in the rear electric window switches on the centre console. Do u reckon this will be a major expense?
The front right hand headlight is cracked. Does anyone know how much this will cost for a second hand one in sydney and where?
There is an easily repairable scrape which has pulled some paint off on the rear left hand wing. A bit of spray will fix it I hope.
Do u reckon with all these problems that I have made a bad purchase.
Any advice would be really helpfull, will hopefully pick the car up tommorow and test drive it:)

great price, low km's, those little problems you spoke off shouldn't be that expensive to fix, you could probably figure out a way to fix the power feed problem to the rear elec windows yourself. As the head lights goes, you can spend a little more, eg $500 and you could install nice parabolics from Veradas onto your car.
welcome to the forums.

Drove the car back from auction today and she drives pretty well and it also appears to have a FSH and was first registered 04/98 which is a bonus but its got a few strange things about it like a lack of a drivers rear view mirror.
Cant imagine why anyone would drive without one of these? I got beeped a couple of times on the way home.
Anyone any idea what a new one costs?
Gonna get a mate who is a mechanic to check under the car soon and reckon i,m bound to find a few wallet hungry suprises.
Its a great car though and feels good and powerfull and so smooth even compared against my 141RWKW MX5 Turbo which is nt so smooth.
Cheers

Paid $48 bucks for the mirror from mitsubishi(what a rip off), and $130 for replacement front light from Autopro. Just need to get the rear electric windows working now.
Got a mate who is mechanice to get under and check the car out and all is very very good, I must have had beginers luck at the auction this time:)
The magna must be one of the, if not the best buys in terms of second hand cars!

What do you guys think of a 97 TF Sports 5 spd, lowered, 17" adrenalins, extractors, sentinal headlights, stock sports exhaust from the factory, pretty straight, electric antenna, tinting is a bit scratched, few stone chips, 60,000k, whiteline front and rear stabiliser bars, $11,800...???
I picked it up a couple of weeks ago?
Good deal?
My thoughts - You have been siphoning through a lot of old threads!!
$12k for a 97 magna seems a bit steep if you're basing it on market value because typicaly small mods don't add a whole lot of value to the car. I guess if its in good nick though and you combine all the mags, lowering etc probably it's worth it. You should check to make sure that it really appears and drives like a 60,000 km car. 60,000kms over just under 8 years equates to about only 8,000 kms per year travelled - rare for someone who would buy a 5 speed manual with mags, extractors and lower it. Usually its the elderly who do so few kms. I would just check the dash to make sure it doesn't look like they have replaced it with a new one and wound the kms down. Although it's unlikely to be the case, it happens so I would check it with such a low km car of that age.
