View Full Version : blackout cluster from KH EI into TF Advance
Hey guys,
Scored a blackout cluster today from a kh ei. I got the whole instrument cluster loom along with the cluster. Im yet to get a trip computer, but will find one soon. Also have the surround around cluster with the buttons.
Went to go and fit it thinking it would be relativly plug and play, but the plug that connect down near the ecu is larger on the KH loom.
I tried searching but to no avail. Any tips or diy instructions will be appreciated.
Thanks
MR SPL

Pull dash out, change wiring loom, modify and wire direct into ECU

Yeh that kinda does make sense. Started looking for a wiring diagram for kh-kj but no luck.
Can anyone offer some help or assistance?

Sorry, mine is a MR906.
Is that any good for this cause ?
Well Ive managed to install the cluster, and all is working. Just left the standard speed alert there and is still works. Just have an issue with cruise control now. Not sure what exactly as all my colour wires match up.

If the kh loom was used the plug is tcl thus why it does not work, that is part of the wiring I do when I convert them

Thanks Mal.
I established with mcs_xi that i need to look at changing the wiring around. I changed the tcl button to my cruise button, and I will have to pull the dash apart and work out what needs to be changed as I am not sure just yet.
Apart from having no cruise, it works perfectly and im fascinated by it! Thanks for all that helped.
If anyone has done this mod and can tell me exactly what needs to change for cruise control to work, your help will be greatly appreciated.
Had a try yesterday swapping some wiring around. Couldnt get cruise to engage. Now considering looking at swapping my clock spring around, but that could involve a top loom swap which i want to avoid doing.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do/try??

It is nothing to do with your clock spring, and everything to do with the wiring at the master switch for the cruise. The tcl and cruise wiring is not the same. You have to make the tcl wiring the same
As the cruise wiring. This will solve your problems.

Mmm well ive just tried every wire and no luck. If i use the TCL switch i can get the back light to illuminate behind the switch when headlights are switched on. If i connect the CRUSIE switch nothing happen. Noticed cruise switch had an earth wire that this loom doesnt, so added one of them and still to no avail.

I did this to my TF when I put the KJ cluster in. I didn't have any wiring diagrams for the TF so I used a multi meter with both looms out of the car to find where the cruise wires go. From what I can remember I needed to add a ground to the TCL plug and an ignition feed to the TCL plug aswell as one wire from the TCL plug the to the other end of the loom at the plug that plugs into the engine bay loom ( the same plug that you needed to modify for the loom to fit the TF).
