IIRC the executive has not got an alarm system, but it does have a chip in the key itself which interacts with the immobiliser. Wrong key and it won't start.

(someone correct me if this is wrong)

One key = potential problem. If you lock it in the car, or it gets lost or stolen, your car needs to be towed to a Mitsu dealer for a new key cut and code. Gets expensive, best to have a spare key (also not cheap). Check prices at a Mitsu dealer or competent locksmith places.
(Ignore this if you know you will never misplace that key. lol Perhaps contact the seller and ask them to search for the other key? Helps if you add " Pretty pleez?" lol )

soooo.....how do i activate it with just having the 1 key? I would've thought the car would have had a button thingo for central locking?

"Button thingo" is separate to the key.

No remote means you have to lock the car the old fashioned way, lock driver's door and shut door while holding door handle up, locks all doors. Or shut door, put key in lock, turn, all doors lock.

Immobiliser is activated when you remove key from ignition.

(Remotes are for whimps, real men lock their car with the key. lol But if you really need one, check Mitsu dealer/ previous owner/ eBay.)

yeah, i have to use the key to lock the doors....stick the key in, and all doors lock.....another thing that's weird with my car, is that the interior light and the door open light occassionally turns on when i brake...and i have no heaters that work :(

One of the door switches is acting up. With the car stationary, and doors closed, pull gently on each door handle and see if you can find the door that is acting up. Or windows down, pull on doors without touching the handles. Black rubber covered switch on the bodywork door frame.

Heater not working - see if the previous owner has bypassed the heater hoses on the firewall.

If you are in a hurry, key is $130+, remote $80 or so.

I have seen a Mits Mirage towed in to the Cooma Stealership from the snowfields. Kid had lost the keys whilst skiing at Perisher in the snow. It was Mummy's car. They had to ring Mummy to get her permission to get new key. Then they had to ring Mitsubishi in Adelaide to get the coding of the key. Then they had to get the local locksmith to cut a key. Then thay had to program the key. I don't know how much this all cost, but it was about 120 km towing on a flatbed truck, a new key, getting it cut and programming the key. Then, when he finally got the car home , the other key(s) had to be reprogrammed in Sydney because apparently they would not work any more. Alltold, I reckon ot would have cost at least $650 and that was 10 years ago.

I had already foreseen that this could happen to me and have had a spare key cut, but not programmed. This key is wired under the car and can get me into tthe car. I have another key (which does operate everything) hidden inside the car so that if I lose my main key, I can still get into teh car and get another working key out and drive home. Cheap insurance, and naturally up to now, I haven't needed it, although I have used the spare working key when I had left the car with others.

I have a spare key in my wallet. Cheap insurance, as you say.

yep, i'm going to get a spare key cut for it and probably leave it with my mum (she lives just down the road, so it's handy and safe there)..... As for the doors, nothing happens when i do that...it doesnt come on if i've turned it off completely at the ceiling, but even when it's turned on to come on when you open the doors, it only turns on when the front passenger side door opens
