Hi Guys,

I've got a 2001 TJ sitting here with a smashed gearbox. So we've decided, when we replace the gearbox we want to give the engine a bit more balls. Long term, I am looking at a supercharger, but for now I don't want to spend that sort of money (Looking at Rotrex, $8k!)

I've been hunting all over the place for information but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

So I figured I'd ask here :)
What sort of engine mods can I look at doing under $5k?
What cam to go for?
What injectors?
etc etc

The car is to be a daily driver and track weapon. One of my folks friends decided he wants to put his worked SS up against it for some fun, and he has a lead foot. Should be a bit of fun for me if I can keep him in the rear view at Adelaide lol.

Thanks guys

EDIT: And I'm starting to hate my TF so it's time to get the TJ finished I think. Bloody TF is falling apart!

The quickest and easiest mod seems to be to have a chat to Mal about a 3.8 install.

Ahh ok. I'd like to get in and do the work myself. Will chat with Mal next chance I get. Where would I go from there in the hunt for grunt? Let's face it, a 3.8L with a supercharger, needs MOAR! :)

3.8 + rpw stage 2 cam and camgears and tune will be about 4000? Then spend the rest on an lsd when u rebuild the box.

Beauty. Should make things real simple then. Does the box from a 6G72/4/5 all fit the same?

No need to upgrade the injectors unless you are going forced induction. if you do decide to upgrade them, then 380 injectors are a bit larger and should be able to handle anything a n/a engine can throw at them.

440cc injectors would be the next step but the car would need to be tuned after you install them. Not too bad an idea if you are looking at fi in the future but not really necessary/economical without boost.

Also, you can get a bolt on supercharger for $4750 (without fitting) that fits the 6g74 engine. if you are going down the 3.8 road, I think the price drops slightly.

if you are going FI in future I wouldn't spend money and cams and tune yet as it is pretty much $2000+ which you could save to get the charger earlier.

I'd say put in a 6G75, and keep the mods to things that you can still use as a benefit when you go charged.

As you want to track it around a circuit get the LSD right away as that should improve your lap time a fair bit.

Thanks heaps guys. Dreggzy do you know of anywhere I can get a S/C around that price?
