Just replaced the stock HU with a 6.2" screen with sat nav, digital tv, dvd etc... but have a minor problem.

1. There is a small whine sound that increases with engine rpm and

2. The rear speakers, make a pretty quiet (but when you are in the car with the acc on, and nothing playing, it is annoying) sound. Its a faint constant ticking sound.

3. Trying to get the stock steering wheel controls to work but cant work out what wires do what. There are two wires and the controls are on a metal frame which we think is just for ground. When you connect 12V to one wire, the buttons light up (LED's), but regardless of what combination we try with the rest, cant get it to work with the new HU. The HU has software on it that 'listens' for a change in voltage or resistance, and you can then assign those spike to a particular function.

We tried grounding the frame, 12V on one wire and the HU control input wire on the other. When we press a button the unit does detect a spike, but it is the same value for each button, and its not constant it goes on and off every second or so.

4. Not sure how to connect the camera with these little red wires on the RCA cable

Oh and i can confirm that the wiring colour codes below are also correct for a 2003 KJ Series 2

2. White/Blue --> Front Left + --> White
3. Green/White --> Illumination (Dash lights. Normally used to dim the HU) --> Orange
4. (No connection/pin) i.e. no spot on the plug at all. Makes way for retention clip.

15. Gray/Blue --> Rear Left - --> Green/Black
16. Gray/Red --> Rear Right - --> Purple/Black

** Some H/U have Remote On (Blue/White) and Power Ant (Blue). If you connect Blue, the antenna will be up when listening to tuner only. If you connect Blue/White, it will be up when the stereo is on. Don't connect your amp to the Blue on your new H/U, use Blue/White. Otherwise this will turn your amp on only when listening to the tuner!

1. whine could be alternator noise, you may need to install a noise filter box to the head units power

4. with the rca cables im not sure about the little red wires, but have you just tried powering the camera and just plugging in the rca cable? if so how did it go?

thats all i could help you with sorry let us know how you go

You've probably already found the answer but just in case the red wire is what tells the head unit that the car is in reverse and to activate the camera input.

One end connects to the positive of your reversing lights and the other end connects to the corresponding wire of the head unit.

This red wire combined in the video cable just saves you having to run a separate wire for this function.
