Ok let me start with I have "SUCKER" tattooed on my forehead now i don't even own a Manga but a "friend" needed my help... they had bought a clutch kit and couldn't afford to get it fitted thus i step in and lend them my car and offer to help.. towed the car to a shed and tho i have not had anything to do with car's in lets say umm quite a few years and im talking back in the day when most bits weren't plastic anyway i had replaced clutches before quite a few in my hoon years but rear wheel drive systems are not the... lets say "CHALLENGE" that the front wheel drive systems are anyhow with help roped in i get started the first night with only one wheel off and hopes of having my car back the following day fading as i realised this was going to be a lot bigger job than i had anticipated decided to call it a night and came home to google some tips... OMG well im glad i did or i wouldn't have even known how to unlock the TOB with a walkthrough off the link http://www.evomoto.com/tech_info.php?tech_id=27&osCsid=31d8ae8dbbc61e74bd90b77504932362
i got the job sorted it just took over a week as i and the person who's shed and assistance i was using have both had to work while this project was underway .. now completed... have paid to get the flywheel machined and the $70 for the new fluid ...the offsets on the new plate were different but i had him check the part numbers and was guaranteed it was the right part..... well after the job over and clutch was bled its still not right.. wont go into reverse without extreme force and just isn't right im tired just completely over it and just want my car back but as this "friend" has 3 kids i want to get it running right as he know's less than a tissue box about cars and is completely broke i was and am his only option... i am soooo just hoping I've missed something obvious that is easy cheap and quick to fix PLEASE if you have any suggestions HELP!!!!!!!

So forward gears its ok but reverse is not? Have you checked the linkages?

One obvious question is .......did they have problems with reverse before you fitted the new clutch kit?
Hows 5th gear? Vee

yeah they had issues with reverse before and when the clutch plate was removed 2 of the springs in the plate were stuffed so it definitely was the plate issue i will try and get back in it this afternoon and the forward gears are not much better will select easier just wont take up right

Might be a stupid question but did they fit up the flywheel and clutch right? Did they fit it up facing the right way? Was it aligned properly using a tool?

Even if not alligned will make no difference to the reverse

Check your clutch pedal does not have too much freeplay, often as a clutch wears the mechanics will back off the clutch pedal, once the new kit goes in there is not enough push or movement to properly release the clutch

From what I gather, both reverse and even the forward gears aren't functioning properly. Reverse just seems to be the hardest to get into?

And your point is................

If the clutch was not alligned properly then the box would not go in to start with, add to this if it was only a small amount out and the box did go in as soon as you release the clutch for the first time it would centre anyway

ok so to put a close to a very long week i adjusted the clutch pedal buy four full rotations did back up the lock nut took a deep breath and..... perfect it selected reverse smoothly with no force what so ever i took it for a test drive SWEET AS . :D i sucked every bit of praise offered with a shrug of it was nothing .. knowing this would be the last clutch ever in a front wheel drive i would ever touch so with a puffed chest i took my keys back and have just arrived home with a grin on my face and a body totally worn out .... at this point i would love to say thanx for the input idea's and help so verrrrry much appreciated goodnight
