Hi

I have a TH 3.5L which stalls when I start it. The second time I start it idles fine. Also noticed every now and then the remote controls for the central locking and immobilising will stop working and I have to reset the remotes.

Any advice appreciated.

cheers

with the resetting of the remote, it may be caused from a going flat battery in the remote? also do you know how old the cars battery is?

Your car battery is on the way out.
Very well known issue with the Magna.

Now on the third battery in my car, every time the stalling issue started to occur all I had to do is fit a new battery.

Remote,
Either the cell battery is getting a bit old, or the battery holder inside the remote has become loose from the printed circuit board.
If you have soldering iron experience this is a 5 minute fix.
Otherwise buy a new remote on Ebay.

Thanks for the quick responses. With the car battery it is about 5-6 years old. I replaced it myself and put a fairly decent Bosch battery in. I have never replaced the batteries in the remotes though I did have them tested about 2 years ago. If I buy new remotes on Ebay is it a matter of just resetting them as per the way i do the old ones?
Also I remember the radio stopped working when I changed the battery last time. I think I have some sort of code I have to use somehow for the radio if I change the battery?

cheers

just be careful with ebay, i paid $82 for a new remote from mitsubishi for my th magna, but some people on ebay want way more, so you might be best to ring up a mitsubishi dealer etc.
yes if you have a stock radio you will be required to put the "pin" in after a battery change, the code should be with your owner manuals

and mitsubishi's should code it for free like they did to mine

Hi just an update to the problem. It turns out if I turn the ignition on and leave for a few seconds before starting, the problem gos away. Could this be a fuel pressure issue?

No defiantly a battery issue. Dads KJ was doing the same thing. Replace battery and its now fine.

For a standard battery, the Century ones are good:
