Has anyone ever tried bending wheel arch flares? Im looking for about 2mm extra space for my front tyres but was wondering if heated the flares would bend? Or will the paint just come off?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Bending inwards or outwards or are you talking about rolling them? I actually want to bend/flare mine outwards so the tyres don't appear outside the guard. Will be interesting to see if anyone has done it. Doesn't have to be Magnas.

Bending outwards , i will just cut mine instead of rolling but still need a few mm.

If it can be done it shouldnt be too hard, and besides its not as if its going to break your bank if you stuff it up..
The actual flares themselves are not that expensive. I think the wreckers told me $20 bucks for all 4 off a 2002 tj vrx.

Finding a complete set of flares is rarer than hen's teeth. Should have snapped those up for a spare.

I reckon you could probably bend the flares a little with a heat gun, but you'd be very likely to warp the paint. Noticed this when modifying my rear guards/guard liners with a heat gun recently...

Well 3 hours later and what a shit fight. Turns out you can't really bend the flare but you can roll it with heat. Slightly bent one of my flares but will go out after lunch and try and fix.

According to the Part # on these.. I beg to differ..

I gave the part number to one of the repairers and it comes up as

"Ralliart Magna/VR-X/Sportswagon VR-X Wheel Arch Stub Flare"

As you stated, F4RK the repairer, I can tell you 100% that all of the flares are different, there are even differences between the export sports flares and the domestic ones, I have some of each here.

I have with a heat gun softened flares enough to roll the inside edge to clear tyres but I had to then repaint them as it all but wrecked the paint. Trimming is also an option but again not always enough

The export ones are for the Diamante so does that mean they are suitable for our Veradas?

I managed to roll the inside edge using a hair dryer quite easily this morning and the paint still seems ok on any visible bits. I am not going to take the heat to them again though, i believe the whole thing is too risky on a set of ralliart flares that are hard to find.

For anyone else thinking about heating flares to change their shape i would only do it as a last resort to make wheels and tyres fit. Trimming the flares and then using sikaflex to hold them in place is more suitable.

I seen a set on ebay the other day, brand new for $50..
Lol
I didnt see it worth the money.. I need my left hand front one repainted as it has a scuff on it from the tyre joint... Douchebags..

Hayden i got my 380 guards rolled to perfection from a guy through pedders at Liverpool. He only charges about 70 bucks each, may have been less. He does alot of show cars and race cars too.
