Has anyone put an ipad or similar in their Magna yet?
Im considering doing this by moving my head unit to the glovebox, and mounting the Ipad in the dash hole.
And the Ipad has wireless syncing, so if I put it to sleep with the car running it will sync all my music wirelessly.
So does anyone know if its been done or if at all possible? Thanks in advance :)

pm lathiat. he doesnt come on here much anymore. maybe weekly
That's something I'll be looking into in a few months.
Right now I'm running music bluetoothed off my iPhone to a JVC KD-R926BT.
It works perfectly as intended, loads as soon as its on and there is no need for cables unless you want to charge.
For the iPad I'm thinking of installing a swivel mount on the dash, covering the vents, HU and din pocket.
But I'm imagining you actually want to take apart the facia and have the iPad moulded into it?

Yes, That was what I was planning, I want to build in the Ipad into the dash, so its hard wired in to charge, aswell as to play music etc.
Not sure how long until I will try and do it but I just wanted to see if its been done before.
Main reason for using an ipad is that it has the capacity to be updated for free, and its a large screen.
Only problem that I have thought of would be a way to make it sleep when I turn off the car..
Not sure as of how I would do that but..

you can come and do it for me once your done :P
To make it sleep, you would just need an app (if its not a default option) to sleep within 1 mins of no ac input...?

The issue there is, that in order to be able to access this feature, it would need to be jailbroken.
And though generally alright, sometimes maintenance and updating jailbreaks can be painfully inconvenient with the iPad being worked into the facia.

Yes exactly my thoughts...
If I could make the centre console facia slide out on rollers, I thought I could be able to slide the Ipad in to the facia from the passenger side to do updates etc..
But looking over it, I dont even think the Ipad will fit in the damn thing anyway..
But apparently an Ipad Mini is coming out with a 7 inch screen.. could be a better option maybe.?
:S I dunno its gonna be hard but I want it so bad! lol

mate looked at the link red posted
if you can find a way to mount a case sturdily on the dashboard and maybe either connect it to a stereo headunit or like lathiat's build:

my suggestion:
get a TL climate control conversion and mould a dock on the fascia/dash or whatever(like in the vid) and do the dock mod to charge it
then have a line out to a stereo somewhere in the car(e.g glovebox or a TL pocket like whippy did with his carpc)
what seems the hardest is the moulding

One problem, I think the TL - W climate control surrounds/ climate controls are UGLY! lol.
Id prefer to work with the one I have honestly :)
Yeah the moulding would be hard but my brother is in the know with fibreglassing etc.. Hopefully he could do it for me, Im still unsure what im doing yet.. Maybe just mounting one to a mount is easiest but I want the OEM look :S
Personally I would go for the mould option. The great thing about iPads and iPhones is their portability. If you want it mounted in the dash there are easier and better options.
The limitations apple put into their devices will make the iPad a very basic car PC if not jailbroken.
It will only play .mov and .mp4's for movies, unless you're running AirVideo from a *home* server with live conversion/converted files.
You have no access to root folders and system settings without jailbreaks (iFile).
For it to look stock you could have it held in behind the facia with two sliders and clips on the ends.
