Hey guys. Installing a reverse camera and need to tap into a wire that runs to the reverse lights, or has 12 volts when the car is in reverse? Surely the reverse lights all run back to the junction box somewhere?

Cheers guys.

You need to tap into the reversing wires at the camera end or the display end?

If its at the camera end, then just find the wire in the boot that runs directly to your reversing light bulb.

Yeah the camera has power (just plugged it into the amp..).

I need a trigger wire to switch to and from camera mode on the headunit.

Has the camera got a trigger wire? If so, hook up the power source wire to the reverse light wire (instead of the amp) and then drag the trigger wire to the headunit along with the video cable. Otherwise, tap into the reverse gear cable under the dash.

Either way, the power source for the camera should be the reverse light wire instead of the amp otherwise the camera would always be on.

In the end I just ran wire up the side of the car, to the head unit trigger wire and to the reverse light positive wire.

The camera always receives power, so I can toggle to camera mode on the h/u and see behind the car without being in reverse (for example, watching how close a car is getting to me, or checking a hot blonds legs walking behind me..)
