Do a compression check. If none, check the cam chain on the top cog for correct alignment. Had a Sigma where the nylon gear on the distributor broke in half, bits fell down and made the cam chain jump teeth enough to bend the 4 intake valves. No compression, spun over like a sewing machine.

Good luck with the repairs.

Whoops! Bad idea on Mitsu's part to use a nylon to drive the distributor, recipe for disaster - didn't know they carried those over from the Sigma. An over the counter one is metal, fortunately.
If the cam chain has really jumped teeth, the head and front cover need to come off. The head will need new valves - intakes get bent - so . . . . fun! (And expensive, if you need someone else's hands to do the work)

compression test the motor. all pull the rocker cover off and turn the motor over see if all the valve are working.
all the gen2 dizzys i have are metal gears .

If he found bits of nylon, he should look at the colour - WHITE can only be the distributor gear. (The only one I have seen was white, anyway) I don't know what year Magna he has.

EDIT: TS GLX 2.6, yeah, should be metal gear.

Slipped teeth on my Pulsar the other month... turned out to be cheaper and easier to buy a new engine and drop it in than replace the head/valves. New engine is currently on the crane waiting for its new water pump to arrive before getting put in :)
