Hey all,

Probably a stupid question but ay,
i have 93 tr magna 4cyl manual and i am looking at getting a new engine (with a bit more grunt) to work on and drop in at a later date. so my question is will a 6g72 fit or can you suggest any other engine?

Cheers,
BigNate

from memory, a v6 out of another 2g will fit, but will require moving the engine mounts, then probably govt./rego paperwork and inspections etc. probably easier to find a clean v6 2nd gen and use it as is. Or, the engines out of GTO's fit them too :P
TT 2nd gen?

TR -TS indeed came with a 6g72 so will fit no problem. Get a donar car and you will have all you need to do the swap.
Overseas namely Nz they also had a V6 first generation also using the 6g72.It was also manufactured here in Oz but not sold here. What a pity!! Vee

If you want a 6g72 the mounts are the same between the SOHC 12v 3L (which was the V6 in all the second gen ADM Magnas) and the DOHC 24V 3L (which was the V6 in the GTO, Delica and a couple of others) if your want to put either of these in to a 4Cyl magna then all you'll have to do is cut and reweld one mount (one of the rears from memory?) and grab yourself a 2nd gen V6 gearbox as this will bolt up to either V6 and the drive shafts, CV's and all that jazz.

I want to do this myself, but I'm just waiting for a decent cheapish DOHC 24v 3L to show up :P

Is the pass side main mount, you unpick from the v6 shell and reeled to 4 cyl shell

If done properly you can not tell has been done

Then there is a tonne of wiring, front brakes and lower control arms etc etc

What about if i already have a KS Verada wth the Aussie V6 in it standard ?

What is required to drop the DOHC 3L in it and can i keep it as auto ?

Does it have to be the Diamante DOHC or will the GTO non-turbo engine fit ?

I have just hit 200K and would rather do this then spend money on the timing belt on my current car (even though there isn't anything wrong with it).

Easy as pie then, pretty well a drop in, other than the wiring AFAIK

Fairly sure the V6 auto would be a be a bolt up too, considering the magna V6 manual does (Mal can correct my extreme vaugeness haha) but agian, wiring.

GTO non turbo is fine and a butt load easier to find, same goes for ecu's, but your best bet is to buy a half cut and go from there.

Have a chat to Killbilly, Dougal, Dimi108, -lynel- or any of the other members who have done the swap and you'll learn a bunch :)
