Seeking advice,

Got a TJ Auto, can the aftermarket AP60 cruise control kit be installed or will it be a hassle due to electronic speed sensing and not old school cable?

"Designed for older vehicles with no electronic speed signal, although the product is suitable for most new vehicle applications where minimal cost may be a requirement "

What is the minimal cost requirement..ie part required to fit this kit?

Thanks

Does it mean that it is suitable for vehicles with cable throttle body control, if so, then it fine to be fitted.

The AP60 Is the system which uses a magnet on a drive shaft to sense speed.
It will work with a magna but it would be worth getting the AP150 instead, as this uses the ECU's speed sensor wire for speed sensing.

The cable throttle is o.k, was a little confused about the speed sensing bit...as older cars have the cable from the gearbox to tacho and newer ones have speed pulse generators / sensors

Thanks

With the sheer amount of TJ's available at wreckers, why not just install a factory cruise control system instead? if you get a loom from something more high spec (e.g. Verada), you could probably also do a climate conversion as well.

I'm really not a fan of aftermarket one's. You really don't want it to malfunction while engaged. There's a few horror stories around of aftermarket cruise kits stuffing up. The factory cruise system is far more reliable and will look much better too than the ugly AP60 cruise stalk sticking out from your steering column like dog's balls.

It's not overly difficult to do, just time consuming! Quick search and you'll find the info you need to convert it.
If you're interested the parts you'll need are:
- Dash + loom
- Engine loom
- Steeering wheel clock spring + stalk (behind steering wheel)
- Cruise module/ecu (passenger side of centre console)
- Cruise control vacuum pump under leaf catchers on drivers side
- Cruise enabled throttle body.
- Brake switch (clutch as well if manual).

If you search around you could probably get all these bits for the same price as an aftermarket one.
