Hi guys today i was driving my tj 3.5ltr home and started to splutter violently once in the driveway i turned it off and tried to start it again. Nothing except power to my dash lights etc not even a ticking noise at the engine. My engine light stays on. I lifted the bonnet and noticed smoked coming from starter area but wasnt an oil smell. Have i fried everything? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Last time I had that happen the thick cable to the starter had touched the exhaust headers (not on a Magna obviously, this was a rear wheel drive) and was shorting out, exactly the same symptoms. Have a good look at the thick cable from battery to starter for cuts/burn marks, you might want to disconnect the battery first though.

Please don't make multiple threads (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97126) for the same topic - you're only doing yourself a disservice.
