Hi there. I have a 2003 Verada KL Xi in which the transmission has been a little slow to engage drive/reverse in lately. I was looking towards getting a flush + filter change so i messaged a local transmission specialist about a quote - apparently the company is quite reputable around here but the reply i got from them didn't sound so good too me.

When asking what the cost would be to flush + replace filter and use genuine mitsubishi fluid they replied:

"A transmission flush for your vehicle will cost $350. We only use a synthetic fluid which is why the price is most likely higher than other shops.
The filter in your transmission is only replaceable if the transmission is removed & stripped down, it can’t be replaced on a service."

I was under the impression that any shop would use fully synthetic fluid for this model of car?

And from research that i have done i've never heard of the filter requiring the transmission be removed and stripped to be replaced.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. If anyone knows any reliable place to get these things done at a good price in Logan(QLD) i'm all ears too!

Filter is internal and only replaced at rebuild time. Not an item normally serviced.

Use the recommended Mitsu fluid. Or at least find out what the synthetic used is, and if it is compatible with your trans.

Hey Resent I just got a quote from Motorama Mitsubishi there at Logan for $250. Seems like an ok price. Haven't got their number on me but give them a buzz and let me know how you go.

My last flush on my TJ used 3 bottles of fluid - so that's around $120-150 worth of genuine fluid. I think my mechanic charged around $150 for the flush itself. So $250-350 seems reasonable.

As said, there's no oil filter to be changed on them.

Thanks for clearing that up guys.

Was worried the Mitsubishi price would be even more ridiculous but $250 seems decent for getting it done by them and ensuring they use genuine fluid.

Will contact them and let you know, thanks!
