View Full Version : Power window controller needed

Hi all.

In the past year, I've had the power window controller in my TH Advance replaced twice with used ones and the 2nd one has now died. Apart from continuing not to use the windows (has been OK for the last couple of months, but it's getting warmer ...), what are the options for replacing it? I'm only planning on keeping the car for a few more months.

Are new ones still available (cost?). Which models / years are compatible if I get a used one? Good sources for these? I'd prefer black (which the original was) - the last 2 brown ones just don't suit the grey interior! Finally, is it fairly easy to swap in a replacement after removing the door trim? The mechanic has replaced the last 2.

Cheers,
Ross

Very easy to do it. You don't even need to remove the door trim. Do you need the main drivers unit or one of the others? I have a few spares.

Thanks for your reply. As far as I can tell, I need the main driver's unit - the controllers on the other doors stopped working when this one failed, same as the previous two times.

Thanks hulstar; I think it will work out with Dreggzy's spare.

Oops, I forgot to update this thread.

I got the controller from Dreggzy (thanks again mate) and also managed to get the old one working again by fiddling with the wires. It only just failed again last week and could not be revived this time, so i replaced it with the one from Dreggzy - all good now.

I'm tidying the car up to sell now and got a bit creative with the plastic fascia around the controller, since a dumb mechanic had swapped in a brown one a few years ago and thrown mine out - NOT a good look in an otherwise grey interior! 4 coats with a rattle can from Bunnings and it's a brilliant match for the others! :facejump:

Next job - roadworthy testing to see how much it will cost ...
