long story short saw this mob called "The Touch Up Guys" who apparently specialize in these sorts of repairs, got a quote for $300 to repair all the scratches and stone chips and sand back and respray (two pack) the part of front bumper where the worst of it is, so i figure this isnt too bad (will get Quote from local smash repairs for same job) so has anyone had any experience with "The Touch Up Guys"?? if so did they do a good job... and is $300 price reasonable?

have used them before up in qld though, they are all different so no two will do the same job. I was happy with the work, couldn't tell they had done any touch ups at all, and price seems reasonable. They will prob do a better job than a smash repairer i reckon, the smash repairers just want to do big jobs not touch ups, it costs them too much

yeah exactly what i was thinking, down here they are contracted to a used car dealer and they fix up the used cars so i assume they do a good job if it is good enough for the dealer at least

Yeah Touch up Guys i s a franchise so pretty much every van is a separate business, i had the top half of my front bumper re done by one of the Touch Up Guys here in Tassie, and its not even noticeable, he touches up all the cars in the car yard where i work, so best thing about it was i didnt have to take my car anywhere, he just came to work and did it all here while i could watch :)

When i was alarm fitting, i used to see these guys all the time. The quality of their work is pretty damn good especially for the price.

If you want to touch up stone chips, and if you have the right colour (eg white), I have found that ordinary whiteout works a treat. It has enough body to fill the chip, it dires quickly and is almost invosoble without any further sanding. If you want, you can sand and then touch up with a spray paint of the exact match.

Until you go over it with a pressure washer or something. It might hold if you sand it back so it's flush with the paint work but i can still picture going over it and the white out just lifting easily.

"Until you go over it with a pressure washer or something."

I have done both our cars (white, fortunately) with typewriter touchup, and occasionally use a pressure washer to clean off splattered bugs. Nothing has come loose except the paint on the bumper bar under the Magna headlights - so I stopped pressure washing the Magna.

thanks for all the advice guys i have gone out and got some touch up paint (Mixed to paint code) and some ultra fine brushes for doing what i can to reduce the price, and so far looks bloody amazing, spot on match.. (guess that means no paint fade :D) still going to get them to do large areas rather than go and bugger up my paint job by doing it myself D:

Got it done today, they missed a few spots so im heading back to them to get them to fix it but overall happy with the job. Stone chips still stand out a bit but not as bad as they used to be And finally the damage the car had from some moron reversing into my car is gone!, part of the front bar is rough so i assume they missed a part they sanded when painting so again they are going to fix it (OR else!!!!) but as stated what they didnt miss they did a reasonable job.
