Doing a cam belt change on my TL. At 8 and a half years of age, and 136,000 km the original belt has to go before the car takes another step. lol
Anyhow . . . the usual struggle to get access to bolts, remove bits, etc. Not news, I'm sure.
Got everything stripped, but as before with my TJ, the centre bolt of the engine mount pulled most of the thread off the inside hole of the lower mount. Seems to be a common problem I'd guess, bit of a design fault.
The fix?
Choices:
1) Clean the thread on the bolt, whack it back in with loctite and hope the other two studs + nuts are enough to hold it all together.
2) Helicoil the hole, new bolt or ask the workshop to clean the bolt up.
3) Buy new lower mount and bolt.
What have others done? (I will probably getting it helicoiled, but it ruins my plan of making this a quick weekend job.)
