Hey guys, just recently, have noticed that my car has no torque at all within rev ranges, It hasn't been tuned I know but thus can't be the issue. Cause it was still very punchy even without a tune. I compared a rolling start against my mates XT forester first time and it pulled away no problem, but today i compared again and he was reeling me in so I knew theres a problem there, I'm worried as its coming close to my SKR tune in SA and I want to have the car ready to go for then. I also had just got a 75 fitted so thats excluded from the issue. Now here's the situation:

Driving along say at 60kmh, and decide to depress the accelerator pedal all the way down, in 2nd or 3rd aswell, from 3-5000rpm it slugs along and feels like theres something restricting it, anywhere before pretty much 3-3500rpm it picks up nicely and there onwards, depending on how much you accelerate, it slugs.

Cause if I do the same acceleration procedure but only using 50-75% on acceleration, it has no problem to accelerate smoothly and picks up nicely, but any harder down on the pedal, it slugs.

I've checked air filter and that seems fine. Checked transmission oil just incase, that seems fine. I also noticed a rattling noise coming from the tank I assumed. I pulled out the pump to have a look, it all seems to be fine, nothing was loose at all, but did notice one thing, is that once the cars started, running, idling and even moving the fuel pump noise isn't a constant smooth buzzing noise, its more of a sound like you'd hear an SOS message and can still hear the rattle. Could it possibly mean the fuel pumps on its way out? And is it best of replacing both filter and pump since they haven't been replaced since I have owned the car?

If so whats a price on a new fuel filter and fuel pump? Genuine preferably, as I will replace them both myself.

Cheers guys.

ryco fuel filter sent me back $20 with no hassles, on ebay they are ranging from $80ish to $140 here is one (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Magna-TE-TF-TH-TJ-TL-96-on-4-V6-2-4-3-0-3-5L-Fuel-Pump-/120732767974), maybe see/talk to mal and confirm

Would the pump be working harder and making weird noises if the filter was blocked? Cause I come to assume the pump would be making weird noises sounding like its pumping harder so I got a filter anyways and hope that is the issue

I mean if filter was blocked the pump would work harder right?

Take it back to mitsfix for a checkup, if there is anything wrong from the conversion its covered by warranty, if unrelated you'll just have yo pay lol

Sounds like your issue is faulty spark plugs not sparking correctly under WOT

My guess is the plugs would've been changed or checked when the motor went in..

If you can hear the pump working harder or buzzing..

Check the fuel filter and pump first off.. It may just be a simple thing like that.

Time for a upgraded pump for the hell of it..

Lol, I see we now have people how write our warranty terms and conditions, was not also aware that there were sparkplugs un the fuel tank......

Sounds like a fuel pump issue, if the fuel pump is being noisy then I am not sure how this could be related to spark plugs which are brand new anyway. He stated loss of power, not an engine miss......

It's all fixed, was dirty as **** fuel filter, been done once before, how I noticed? Cable tie holding the bracket that squashes the filter, and filter wasn't the right one for the car, they used a z 528 instead of a 639. Drives a lot harder now :) fuel pump is in completely fine working order :) all weird noises gone :)

Put nothing but your tuning fuel through it now to ensure no contamination for the tune.

will always use 98 :) got quoted for a new complete pump through work, which they wouldn't have in stock at all, $922 @ trade price, but have to wait 3-4weeks from japan from the day I order it, so I thought, hmmm checked the fuel filter, and got a new one, put it on and drives well :)
