This felt stuff on the rear of the spoiler lip doesn't seem to create a water tight seal ..... should it???

We've had some rain here & the felt is very wet to the feel, I took the spoiler off coz the LED brake light was fogging up & I thought it might be from water getting under it but it turms out it had a crack in it & thats where the water was getting in.

Me either, just checking before I put it back together. Looks more like protection for the paintwork .....

Is it hard to take off?? just wondering because I noticed my rear light is pretty loose so was thinking of taking it off and checking if everything is done up properly..

Nah it's pretty easy. Have a look in the large inspection holes either side of the bootlid under the lip, you will see 4 x 10mm hex nuts. Undo them & then get a plastic tool that wont mark the paint & lever the lip up at each outer end to release the plastic clip. You can see it in the pics above.

The LED light is held into the rear of the lip by two philips screws. You may want to undo the cable harness to take it right off although you can nip up the screws just holding it in mid air.

EDIT - If you have the boot lid carpet it will have to come off first to expose the inspection holes ......

Is not an issue as the lid has drains and if the foam is reasonably ok seawater will get in
