hey guys,
Was just looking at Double DIN head units, was just curious as to what people can recommened? I'm keen on getting one with digital TV reception in it. I found these two on eBay

Peoples thoughts?

I just finished installing something very similar in my TJ, although my head unit doesn't have TV. From my research you are likely to have quite poor DVB reception, even if you live in a major city. But it's a cool feature to show off I guess. :)
The best thing about these units is the integrated GPS, IMO.
Anyway, let us know how you go.

there is also one that is exactly the same as the top one minus the GPS for 189, so will put some thought into it as i use my phone (yes i know its illegal :p) atm for GPS whenever i need it. But i agree, the GPS in the head unit would be handy...
got a few other things going on atm with my car so this will get done later in the year, but will post when i do it all!
My thoughts? You get what you pay for. If you have no expectations from eBay receivers, then you won't be disappointed. Otherwise avoid.

As in tv signal? That I really only want just cause its kinda cool. I really don't expect too much.
But do u mean radio and GPS reception as well?

I agree with this. My unit was $1,400 when I bought it (2008) and if I was to replace it today, I wouldn't spend less than about $1000. I stay far away from ebay when it comes to what I consider to be 'important' electronics. stuff I want to last a while

^ that's one of my reservations about eBay.
Does anyone have any experience using one from eBay before (for a decent amount of time?)

The way I see it, you can pay $1500 for a unit locally, and walk back into the store and demand a replacement if it dies right away.
Or you can pay $300 and take a bigger risk getting a cheap one from O/S... and afford to buy 4 more if it dies.. It's a trade-off that depends largely on your budget.
My cheapo is going well but I haven't had it long.

Fitting an EONON in a mate's Astra at the moment actually. Seems great, but can't speak for it's longevity (obviously).
And yes if you mean 180(w) x 165(d) x 100(h) then it'll fit.

supercheap have Sony double din dvd players for 399.00
Ive had 2 of those ebay dvd players and they are a heap of poo poo
I've had my JVC AVX double DIN since 2008 (4 years). Still going strong and no dramas. I pay extra for a good brand as I'm not up for changing head units every year.
I've mentioned it elsewhere, but I can't stand the EONON's. My mum has one in her car, nothing but dramas. Quality is poor & display is cheap and recently refuses to open up to load/eject discs & it now has a tendency of not wanting to turn on most of the time. It will be rightly thrown in the bin & replaced next year with something decent.
