Hi,

Just bought myself a 3rd gen F31A Jap import with a 2.5 DOHC V6 6G73.

It runs really well when warm but idles too low when cold and will die if you rev it. Searches on these forums indicate my ISC is probably dead. Tonight when I get home from work I'll warm it up and see what happens with air con on, headlights on, steering side to side etc. I've got a multimeter so I can test to see if it has burnt out.

Just wanting to know if anyone here can tell me if it's the same part as you guys have on the SOHC 3.0? How much should I expect to pay for a replacement? I can check it for part numbers when I get home from work.

Pull it off, test it with your multimeter.

Then photograph it and put the picture up, and people will soon let you know if it is identical.

Replacement from wreckers.

Well I measured the left -> middle pins and they were 29.1ohms. Right -> middle pins was open circuit.

Was thinking i may need a new one too, found a few on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?rt=nc&Mitsubishi%2520Series=Pajero&_nkw=magna%20idle%20speed&_dmpt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&_fln=1&_ssov=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m282

No idea if you can get them cheaper elsewhere.

There's a few Diamantes at Pick-A-Part so I'll head there later on this week to see if they have any that pass the multimeter test.

Some of the legnums, galants and even lancers in this list may have a similar engine http://www.pickapart.co.nz/stock.asp?yid=7 so hopefully I'll be able to find something!

Looks like a standard 3rd gen one. Your multimeter says it is stuffed. There are two fine wire coils in it, one of them always goes open circuit.

Great, that means I'll have more cars to pick from :D

While I'm there I'll see what sort of goodies I can find. Mine may be a Japanese import but it's a budget model so it's probably missing some of the extras.

Well lucky for me one of the Diamantes at Pick A Part had a newer version of the ISC. Car is running great now.

Got some good parts while I was there but I'll post all that up in my member's rides thread.
