Is the TJ Sports Series 2 fitted with ignition key illumination? Mine is either not working or not fitted. Either way it is a tad inconvenient. Just wanted to find out whether it is standard before I start investigating.
Owner's Manual says "where fitted" when describing how it operates, so obviously it was not standard across the range. Would have thought that Sports being a bit up market would have had ir as standard.
Thanks........Linds

My 01 TJ VR-X didn't. mcs_xi generously retrofitted it for me.

Sports does not have that feature. Only altera and verada models had that afaik.

I know a TJ series 2 Sports AWD definitely has key illumination.

I'm talking series 1. Sorry must have misread that. Possibly still relevant.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Have a few other issues to sort out before I tackle this one. Will post again when I find out what the situation is with mine.

ALL BEMs have the timer. You simply have to add the pin needed. PM me if you want more help.

i recently added a blackout cluster into my tj S1. The cluster came from a KJ and required the top harness to be changed and i think the plug for this light is on that harness? would i be correct?

Yes it is.
You need a plug for the light and a plug to cut the pins out and insert them into the correct place on the central locking module.

My Sports (AWD) Series II doesn't have this feature. But, neither did my series one Exec... until I put one in. Now, I'm not sure how I did it was the "proper" way, but all I did was splice into the wiring leading to the cabin light to power a T5 socket.
Still works on the Exec'... no magic smoke... no fires and no sparks. Its the kind of mod you CAN do one handed with only a handful of swear words (its easy).

For your series 2 AWD, you will have the plug. Don't cheap out by splicing the door light.

There's a plug? As in a socket to connect the T5 harness or an actual T5 socket there waiting? I had a look under the dash and couldn't see anything...

Yes a plug. Series 2 cars have the plugs for the key light and footwell lights already there. You just need the lead with the light and plug.
I have one spare if you pm me. Footwells will just be the light socket.

I did this to my TJ VRX recently too, it annoyed me as most cars have this from factory even base model commodores. my car had the plug ready to go under the steering column, its simply plug and play...looks great once done, see mits fix for the loom they are pretty cheap..
