My car is a manual, with OEM cruise control. It has worked flawlessly for over a year. But recently, i got behind my instrument cluster and tried to trace the wires to what i thought was the plug to the instrument cluster wiring harness.

Basically what i did was found some wires which i wasn't 100% sure where they went, and touched them against positive then negative in my cigarette lighter socket (with an extension wire of course).

I was trying to power up the gear selector lights. I think instead of sending power to the lights, i sent it to the ECU or wherever the signal comes from.

Can cruise control problems be diagnosed? i want to know what options i have. Also iv been trying to locate the cruise control module so i can look for blown components.

Cruise control module is up behind the centre console behind where the radio is located. Also there is fuse for the cruise control best check that first before pulling stuff out. Also check you did not knock any of the wiring off the brake and clutch switches. The unit probably gets info from the cluster as well i had a problematic Nissan Maxima once and the feed from the cluster for speed to the ECU was the problem. Goodluck Vee

Ok went and had a look thru the book
If you download the manual from the tr/ts pdf thread.

From Pdf page 1193 onwards are circuit diagrams for auto cruise control depending on what options you have in the car as which one you need there are several!! Goodluck

Thankyou!! i have a haynes manual but it has basically no information about cruise control.

As for trying to find the cruise ECU, i think i found the ETACS instead. I pulled a plug from something electronic under the dash and my power windows and footwell lights didn't work.

Once the manual finishes downloading though, it will make it a lot easier to find.
