Dear members,
I am new to this forum. What do you think about this car:-
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/mitsubishi-380-2006-13324042?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=0&eapi=2&__N=1282+4294964597+4294964376+900+1216&num=15&silo=Stock&Range=Price:5000,7500~0.5&sort=default
I really need a quick reply.. We are sort of negotiating at $5800 with new RWC and 2 months rego left on that. What do you guys think. Is it a good deal? It has got a dent near the left rear tyre on the panel under the door (visible in pictures).

It seems like good value for money. Not many 380's around in that condition with rego for that price. Male sure that the car is inspected mechanically before you hand over money. K's are a tad high. How many owners has it had?

definitely 2 or more. because he said he bought it off someone when the odo was 140XXXkms. So i guess 2 or 3. Anything else you could see which could go wrong... He said he can get rwc tmrw and can drop it off to my house over the weekend. Also said he is selling because of his company car.

Not much else to be said, that's good value, just make sure it's mechanically sound, with that many ks and that many owners any one or all of them could of driven it into the ground, check the hoses, belts, more importantly the timing belt, check the alternator and starter motor... Uhh other then that check for any unusual wear inside and out... Umm but if it checks out, then good luck with your new purchase :)

The KMs are low enough, any car even with 5 kms on it could have been driven into the ground.
That is a great buy and you are getting good car for your money.

And it's a manual! (says one of the few manual base model 380 owners on these forums)

It's a good buy. 380s age well. As long as it has a full service history I wouldn't get too concerned about the kms. Plus, if the guy lives in Roma, I'd say there'd be a fair bit of highway driving involved.
Looks lowered too.

Do a PPSR check for finance and history etc.

Hey Guys.. another issue popped up.. the guy went to get his rwc and heard tappet covers need to be replaced and he said if that need to be done then he can only bring the car to me only after couple of weeks. But I really need the car for next week. I offered $5000 and he took it for a sale without rwc. I talked to my mechanic about this and he said we can get it done with a quality stuff for about max. $300 approx. Any suggestions guys?? would there be any other complications or related issues/thoughts..please feel free to discuss asap because otherwise I will be buying the car tomorrow on Saturday..

Tappet covers need to be replaced? I guess he's talking about rocker cover gaskets, they can be an issue on high k Magnas, but never heard of then being a problem on a 380 / 6G75. $300 quote seems reasonable as the intake plenum needs to come off to get at the rear bank, and that involves a bit of time / labour cost. Mal / Madmagna / MitsFix is probably the best bloke to seek advice from.

Car has been in couple of minor accidents but no write offs or stolen or financial liabilities on it. I talked to my mechanic and he is very happy to do the work for me and get a rwc for it. He doesnt rip me off because he does it with a passion and is very helpful. So I hope everything goes well.

Roadworthies are certainly not the be all and end all, but I would be very hesitant in buying a car without one.
And what do you mean 'minor accidents'? If it's just carpark scrapes I wouldn't be too concerned... but I would be going over the car with a fine tooth comb if it's been involved in an at-speed accident...

I checked that in the car history..a collision - total claim was $1060. Owner was at fault.

LOL....sounds like a new bumper bar and paint...hardly worth worrying about.

Sounds like a good buy, but i budget, for my car, about 600-1000 per year for repairs etc now that it is nearing end of warranty...may not need it each year, but i put aside $20 a week into a savings acct and dont touch it just in case the odd big repair may need to happen. I am being overly cautious tho....it's just my general approach to running a car. Others may think this is too pessimistic, others may say its optimistic. Main thing u want, i would guess, is that all services have been done and that ttiming belt changes are good...i am no mechanic however....theyre great cars u will enjoy driving it...if maybe a bit heavy on gas compared to smaller 4 cylinders...but still nice.

Bought my 380. Thanks guys for all help and support. Please do suggest me some good and cheap insurers for my car. I am 24 yr male with 5NCD No claim history.
The cheapest company for my 380 in my area is Allianz. $620 for $16800 (has factory gas) including removal of windscreen excess. Also includes free roadside assistance.
There should be other threads in this forum that will help you also.
