View Full Version : New Drivers Door Mirror
Hi all,
Anyone know the best (cheapest) place to find a driver door mirror?
The mirror arm (or whatever you call it) and the glass are intact- its just that the mirror sits loosly in the arm casing.
Someone has hit it and snapped some bits behind the mirrors. Motors still work fine, its just that the mirror wont stay in place.
Thank you...

Mal (sponsor here - known as "Madmagna") wrecks 380s. He has them. I bought a platinum mirror off him a few weeks back. Check out his eBay store (Mitsfix). He usually has most colours.

True but a bit of a fiddle as the clips can break. Get the right colour if you can.

I'd love a chromatic mirror for my 380 like the Verada's have, unfortunately I don't think they're made :(

Thanks Steve. Picked one up from Mitsfix on Friday $85. Right color. Brendon helped me out.
Now, for the fitting...

Not too hard. Take rubber cover off A pillar. 3 nuts and the mirrow is loose. Door - just undo screw under little cover on door handle, second screw in door latch, take out plastic surround from door latch. There are two screws under small caps on bottom and lower side of door trim. Remove these and then pull trim from bottom releasing clips. Lastly push up freeing trim. There are two wiring harnesses that you need to unclip. You will need to remove some of the dust sealing plastic to isolate the mirror wiring ( towards the front). Just unplug the old one and the mirror can be removed. Don't do what I did and install the replacement mirror wiring through the power window rails, thus undoing the plug the first time you lower the window!
Hi Steve, I got your message last night.
I installed mirror yesterday afternoon.
I had to pull the door trim off again as I wound down the window and the wiring harness disconnected!!
If only I would check my emails more often on weekends!! Thanks all the same. I hope it helps someone else one day!!

That's funny! Well funny in retrospect..... I replaced the mirror for my father and he calls me the next day asking why the new mirror doesn't work? Good practice for removing door trims though.
It's the same as changing an oil filter and not checking that the old seal has come off. You only do it once (in this case after 3 litres of oil spews on your drive and down the road). Mind you that was a stupid Toyota v6 with the filter in that $&"@ position near the exhaust headers! 6g70 series engines are a dream for oil filter access.
Yep I know what you mean.
The first time to remove and replace the door trim took about 45 min!!
The second time probably under 5.

How easy is this part to remove? Are there particular points to lever it to get it to spring loose?
