Hey guys,
I understand that a car with the same power at the fly will have different atw power levels depending on transmission, so my question is say a stock 163kw vr-x, what is the rough atw power difference for auto and manual? I've been reading around 125-130 but I'm not sure if that's for manuals or autos?

125 -130 is for a manual would be around 10kw or more less for the auto

130kw is probably fairly optimistic. Remember that these cars range from 9-12 years of age and wear. Engines loose power over time. You'd be hard pressed to find any 6G74 making 163kw's today. Even off the line they can differ in power, let alone, 10 years later.
I've seen some dyno runs and it seems that manual's tend to have around the 120kw at the wheels, and 5sp autos range from around 110kw's.
The 5sp autobox is a good gearbox and doesn't loose that much power compared to manual's. I've seen and been involved with a 5sp man vs. 5sp auto and the difference is fairly minimal.
You may have more power with the manual but with a open diff getting traction off the line will be difficult, and that's where the 5sp auto with TCL might just have the advantage.
Personally - I'd still take the 5sp manual for funzies! Nothing beats having access to a clutch.

My Stock VRX before i started modding it made 127kw and 130kw on two separate dynos about a year apart so its not unbelievable and id rather the manual over the 5 speed auto in getting power to the ground as its alot more controllable even with a 3lt box behind a 3.8

Mine as an automatic made 110kw atw, then 127kw as a manual. Different dyno, and exhaust was slightly different too but should confirm about 10-15kw difference
