View Full Version : Small Question about the TF exhaust…I've had no luck finding the manual.

Hiya Guys,

I'm new here. My TF Altera LS, 97 exhaust needs replacing from the cat back.
The sad thing is the car is most likely going to be written off soon (silly girl pranged into me and the repairs will be a lot). I still need to use the car for Uni whilst I wait on insurance & the rego's due…mechanic just said to fix the exhaust.

So, my question is. Is the exhaust from the cat back (pipes, muffler & rear muffler) just bolted on?
My boyfriend is pretty handy with cars and I'm hoping it's something he can replace himself.

I've been trying to find a pdf of the manual all over the net….without the costs involved of purchasing one :ninja: and had no luck.

I sincerely appreciate any advice you guys can give me :)

Cheers Nixy

Replacing the exhaust from the cat back is easy. A can of WD-40/CRC/RP7 etc too loosen up bolts and lube up the hangers so the rubbers slide on and off easy. A basic spanner/socket kit. Jack/Jackstands and half an hours worth of spanner time!

If your boyfriend has a reasonable idea on what goes on, then he should be fine.

Awesome!!! Thank you so much! I had thought it would be something like that…so relieved to hear it is!
I really appreciate you for getting back to me :)

What damage has been done to your car? you may be able to fix it quite easily yourself if its just cosmetic.

as for the exhaust, head to pickapart, probably looking at around $50 for the exhaust or less if you can fit it yourself, go to supercheap, pick up some ramps and sockets if you dont have any and give it a shot, it's pretty easy to do.

Hiya Rade,

thanx for your reply! As for the damage it's gone pretty deep into the side, no way around it really. Plus, the girl has insurance so, may as well get it fixed.
Thank you so much for the tip on the exhaust! I'll be going to check out pickapart now! You rock Sir!
