Hi Guys,

I recently bought my 380 and was doing a bit of research on the car. I read on the forums that adding a better air intake snorkel and better filter help me increase my fuel economy and a bit of power. i bought this car with a sports exhaust. I do not know what type of exhaust the previous owner has put in. but the pipes look like about 2" or 2.5" in diameter and it is a catback.

Anycase i am planning to modify the air intake. The snorkel costs me $50 + postage $15 from South Australia on ebay. And the filter K&N air filter ( I think the part number is 332285) costs me around $140 at my nearby Repco. Please let me know if these prices are reasonable. And also does the fuel economy shows an improvement?:hmm: Share your experiences about this mod,

Cheers

Heaps of threads on these two mods.

The "Galant" intake snorkel is a worthwhile mod and should give you an extra 2 or 3 killerwasps and slightly improved fuel economy.
Some report a nice induction roar with it, some don't. The price you paid is about the best you'll get.
As it's the snorkel only without the airbox you'll need to modify your existing airbox. Plenty of threads on here about how to do it, it's very easy, and only takes between 5 and 30 minutes depending on which tools you use to do it.

The K&N air filter will not give you any extra power or improve your fuel economy, the stock paper filter is already pretty good. And you need to make sure you don't over-oil it, as excess oil will then get on the MAF wire sensor and make it run shite.
The price you paid is a little steep, it can be had on fleabay for around $100 delivered.

Has anyone done a dyno before and after the snorkel mod?

I reckon it would be interesting (guessing it isnt worth the money?)

I found the cost of the intake from RCHill is about $60 including postage. it depends on how eager you are to get the part and if you care about that $10 - go to http://www.rchillmitsubishi.com and go to online parts store and search for part number MN156778
