ok so just curious on why only magna tj sports and other models around this year need a relearn procedure. and why when ever i mentiin it to ex mitsubishi workers they have no idea what im talking about... is it a procedure only for the tj or is it good to get done on all triptronic autos. the mechanic i went to to rebuild the trans after the return spring snapped said it was a common problembin tj's.

Every 3rd gen Magna has this issue.

I think it's because they're a "learning" transmission (i.e. they adapt to your driving style).

I think in fact that the relearn procedure was written down for the early 3rd gens with the old 16bit ECUs, perhaps because it might speed up the (re)learning process (thus giving a better post-service experience to a customer after an ECU reset).

I've never bothered with it in a TJ (32bit ECU) and have no complaints. It wouldn't do any harm though.
