Hey guys. My stupid car alarm has gone off a few times (FFS) and it's always after it's been sitting in the work car park, so I'll hit the unlock button, it'll trigger for some reason, I'll have to run over, stuff my key in the lock, unlock the door, cram the key into the cylinder and turn it to silence it.

It doesn't spontaneously happen, it only seems to happen when going out to the car after work, and happens less than once a week. Am I accidentally hitting a panic button or something? I've noticed it sometimes happens when I hold the button down as I walk to the car.

However recently I've noticed the key doesn't turn in the keyhole on the drivers side. It turns fine in the passenger, boot and cylinder. I've tried to have a look and can't see anything in it. Key doesn't appear too banged up (for a 250,000km car).

Anything I can try to trouble shoot for the stupid alarm going off (without spending heaps of money, replacing alarm etc) and the keyhole? Cheers guys.

TL users handbook says pressing any button for more than 2 seconds sets off the alarm, it's "panic mode". Don't know if this applies to your year/model though.

Single quick press of green button should unlock driver's door, double quick press unlocks all doors. Long press = alarm. Take it out to a quiet spot and experiment. lol

I've noticed the range on the TL remote is pretty pathetic, 4m, even worse when the battery is near flat.

Alarm should go off as soon as you turn the key in the door lock, if yours doesn't maybe it's disconnected - open it up and have a look.

For the key not turning the lock, try some graphite powder in the key and in the lock, then turn. Dont use WD40 etc, it can gum up the lock.

I had trouble with the drivers lock about 6 months ago. Sprayed some lithium grease on the key and worked the lock a few times. No problem since.
