i just got the front door pockets to wire up the puddle lights, but thought i may as well have the boot release and fuel flap button function correctly too.

Does anyone know if any of the plugs are already in a TH Altera, i know i'll have to add the motor in the boot for the fuel door, but hopefully most of the wiring is already there. Has anyone done the conversion before? I figure i'll have to visit a wreckers to get some parts, just hoping to have a shopping list first.

Yeah I have help a few members out with this. Certainly possible.

You will not have ANY wiring there.

So, you need to find a wrecked XI. You will need the 3 pin plug going to the switch, and run the 3 wires through the door.

You will need the motor with the fuel door short cable (you can use your current motor but you would need an XI motor to get the short cable from anyway - easier to just replace it) and you will need the relay and wiring for the motor.

Basically, the setup you have means when you push the switch in the glovebox, the motor works, the boot switch on the door works exactly the same. However for the fuel door, the relay for the motor reverses the polarity of the same motor to operate the fuel flap.

In all, you will need to run 3 wires through the door, one will splice into the boot switch wire (red/yellow) at the BEM, then the other two run to the back of the car to the relay and motor.

cheers for that Mike! I'm normally a little lost once relays are involved, but this one sounds pretty straight forward, and following instructions is part of my day job lol! Where would i find the relay you mentioned?

Just throwing it out there ,but you do have the fuel release at the bottom of the front seat like we all do,so ,if the glovebox switch is all you are after ,why not just do this (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84815&highlight=glovebox) for minimal hassle??

The relay and associated wiring required is bolted to the frame supporting the boot motor and the power antenna. If you get an early XI, you can also (adding 1 wire and swapping the power antenna) get the half height antenna working

I did think about that, but I figured if I'm swapping the trim over and the switch is there, may as well get it working properly... I do get a but OCD like that sometime!
