My keyless entry stopped working the other day. It was only working when I was close to the car for the past few months so the battery seems gogged. Is there a way to replace the battery in a TH keyless entry thing? The guy at my local mitsu reckons $80 for a new one..
i bought one from spare parts at mitsi and cant really see a way at all to get in and change the battery
i got mine trade price $59

You just prise it open with a flat blade of some sort.
From memory it takes a CR2032 battery, any electronics store will have one.
A couple of tiny dabs of super glue when reassembling, and you are laughing!!

you are going to be freeaaakin ripped off BIG time if you pay more than $20 to do it anywhere. first up, you could have changed the battery yourself for only the cost of a round-flat battery cell. next up, even if you were lazy or couldn't be bothered, you could've paid a cut-throat $10-$15 for a watchmaker to do it. third up, they shouldn't even charge you to synchro the remote and vehicle signal (which incidentally you must do everytime you change the battery in the remote). i got it done for free at my local mitsu dealer in 5 secs. there is a sequence of steps where by you turn the key in the ignition a couple of times and then press one of the buttons on the remote. do a search.
*edit* to the guy who did the spare cut... i'm not too sure if you code the new spare the same way as you would the original.

I remember when mine went dead, i had to get another one from my local dealer, but this was for my TF, but now i have the TJ so the remote is completley different now.

piece of piss 2 code your own remotes. simply turn the key from acc. to on three times, the hazards will flash a couple of times, then press either button on your remote/s within 5 seconds, straight after each other and presto done
mitsu dealers need to program keys with mutt(diagnostic computer) takes about 2 min so yeah ya been ripped off.

I recently just bought one for my KH. Paid about $42 from memory. You can code it yourself. It's so easy to do. Take you all of 10 seconds to do.

Attached is the correct procedure from the manual.
Don't superglue it, as it clips together.
I've done mine at least twice and it has held the codes without the need to reprogram, as explained in the attach.
