Hi all,

Anyone know where I can tap in the engine bay for the ignition source for DRLs for a 07 Outlander XLS. The fuse box has a provision for DRL relay but is sadly missing the pins. I have read that the pink wire in the fuse box is IGN but do not know if it is used for some sensitive equipment like ABS and airbags etc.

After trawling the net and looking on the US Mitsubishi forums, I have found an empty fuse slot that only has the +ve pins which is active after ignition (apparently for Diesel cars). However, I found that there is no parker lamp fuse at all, neither in the engine bay nor in the cabin and also checked the manual and it does not specify one. I have done tests with the parkers on and pulled out the following with no effects:
In engine bay:
1. 10A left low beam fuse
2. 10A right low beam fuse
3. 10A left high beam fuse
4. 10A right high beam fuse
5. 20A left HID beam fuse (yes this fuse gets power when you turn on the low beams but does not affect the low beams when you pull them out)
6. 20A right HID beam fuse

In cabin:
1. Interior light fuse
2. Dash fuse

Anyone with a CJ lancer can verify that they have a parker fuse (from memory the ZG Outlander shares quite alot with the CJ Lancer).

All done now. Ended up splicing the passenger parker line to switch the DRL off. Used the diesel control fuse to power the DRL. Interestingly, the DRL stays on for 5 or so seconds after turning off (I guess this is for some diesel specific stuff).

It was a b***h to fit the DRLs. Had to take off numerous pop-off rivets and bolts. The whole lower section has to be loosened. Ended up with lots of scratches and cuts.

Try fitting nudge bars and towbars to Kia sorentos, carnivals and sportages. You'll come to appreciate the simplicity of Mitsubishi design :) I even fitted a towbar on an optima, it came in about 15 pieces that didn't line up at all with the holes on the car.
