i have the same model as you and i got abt 650kms from brisbane to sydney. it's not fantastic cos do remember we have a 71L tank and yours works out to exactly 10km/L. so that means it's a carton of milk for every 10km. not particularly impressive at all for a 3.5L sohc block but i'm sure we've much better consumption figures than holdens and fords of that time.

General driving through the week i get 450-500k's off a tank in my 99 TH Advance.. thats about 10.8-11.0L/100km (or so my lil trip computer tells me).. its not exactly stationary traffic driving.. but if i cruise to the city on a sat nite and sit in traffic it usually ends up about 11.2 depending on how long its been since the trip computer has been reset.

I have a 2001 TJ Advance. I drove from Shepparton to Newcastle not long ago and done it in one tank of fuel. 900km's. I will admit to filling the tank back up when it reached half but I still think that is impressive. Was about 9.1L per 100km's

In around town just driving to work I get 10L per 100km's

Cruising town holding gears and bein a rev head 10.8L per 100km's

I hope to be changing those figures with the re introduction of a Catalytic converter to my exhaust system within a fortnight. :D

My fuel eco has been **** house the the last couple of weeks. Barely just making over 400-420km on a full tank of Optimax in my 99 manual Sports. I fill the tank to the top every time and itll last me 5-6 days. It's been buggin me lately. it was doin 500km a tank consistently up untill a couple of weeks ago. Do you think its because I'm a lead foot? :P

Well look, I don't know if this is very accurate or not but as I don't have a wizz bang trip computer I tried to work out what my consumption was. Given that I have a 3.0L and drive it too damn hard in crappy traffic I ended up calculating it out to be about 7.5 kms/litre.

Don't flame me if this method is dodge but this is how I did it. (p.s. i know the tank can expand and stuff)

1. At the fuel station i filled up (easy!)
2. I reset my kilometer counter thing under the ODO
3. Drove around 'as normal'
4. Ran my tank down pretty low (1/4 left)
5. Filled up the tank
6. Recorded litres to fill the tank on the pump read out 53 litres (A)
7. Recorded kms travelled in this time 401 (B)
8. Did a calculation for estimated kilometres per litre (B / A) = 7.56kms/litre

Which works out at around 536.7 kms per tank (7.56 x 71). Sounds about right for busy traffic.
Ok, flame on! :P

I get like 13 litres per 100 km in my 98 TF 3 litre auto. I was always under the impression that it should be a bit better then this, maybe I havce more of a lead foot then I thought

I'd be getting your O2 sensor looked at. That is WAY too much fuel! Even for an AWD model!

Last week I got about 500km off half a tank of fuel but it had only 15L of BP Ultimate in it which would have helped out alot and that was in heavy peak hour traffic and with a bit of a heavy foot. But this week just regular and only 180 for the quarter for the same traffic. I might have to look at giving that Ultimate ago on a full tank thats gonna cost me.

has anyone used BP ultimate regularly? WHen i use petrol with a bit of ethanol it shakkes like crazy and doesnt feel so lively...i put BP ulitmate in today cost 1.12 a litre f*!! but its so much better much smoother and alot more lively..im curious though as to wheter i will use less fuel and whether its worth it to offset the cost compared to normal RON91 unleaded

i put in BP ultimate every few tanks and i get way more k's out of the tank...if you can afford it i would get it regularly...just my 2 cents

i need everyone with the 3.5L engines and 71 litre fuel tanks to keep track of and report the total mileage they can get out from a full fuel tank and how much they can top up to full when empty (warning lamp comes on). i have been consistently getting about 430km's out of around 60 litres. that's with mostly inner city driving with the traffic lights up ahead even before you can get to 4th gear.
