Its been said alot of times before, your better off saving your money and buying quality components. What kind of setup are you going for? Fairly basic with a couple of sets of speakers running straight off the head unit, or are you thinking of going the amplifier, sub route?
As far as deciding on basic speaker construction, I recomend 6.5 inch splits for the doors, and if you want to run the speakers straight off your HU then some 6x9's for the rear, as this will provide some bass and basic rear fill, (don't expect huge wads of Bass though). The best part of this setup is the bolt-in factor, as in general with these speaker sizes in the 3rd gens, no new holes need to be cut, although chances are you'll have to drill new holes for the screws.
As far as brands go, I have some pioneer blade 6.5 inch splits (RRP $399) and Im very happy with the sound they produce. I also think blake (aussiemagna) has these same splits and is very happy with the sound. I've heard alot of good things about eclipse speakers also. Best bet is to have a listen to the speakers on the sound boards at any car audio store. Find what you think sounds best, and go from there. And if you are planning on going down the amp/sub road, be prepared to spend a few more dollars and to make alot more choices. Although in my opinion the above setup is the optimal setup for a simple HU powered setup, as in HU running 2 sets of speakers.

I love when you post stuff like that, fhrx.. it makes me realise just how puny my setup really is :P
I went with some Boston FS-60 splits, a Diamond M312 sub and one of those Audison SRx3 amps, hooked up to the JVC SH9105 head unit that I already had. It sounds great! But it also cost me around the $1500 mark (ex. head unit).
I'd recommend going the amp/sub route if you can afford it. I drove around for about a week with just my splits and the factory 6x9s before I put the sub in and it sounded hollow by comparisson.
Hey, nothing wrong with the system you have there! :D
