Hi everyone,

I'm driving a 1997 Mitsubishi Magna Wagon. I just bought it 2 days ago from another guy in perfect working condition. I'm not very knowledgeable about cars so that's all I know about it. The radio, according to the manual is a type 1 stock radio.

This just happened out of the blue today. Driving down with the radio on and parked the car. While parking the car, the car stalled as I was moving too slow up a slope. No problem, I just restarted the car and parked it. After dinner, I went to start up the car to drive home.

And that's when it happened. The radio was turned on, but nothing was working. Pressing the buttons does nothing. All that was displayed on the radio were three dashes. So hopefully one of you guys over here could help me out with this. Thanks for reading this guys.

It probably needs a radio code entered

How do I go about entering the code? I've tried pressing all the buttons, but the radio still displays as "- - -". No change in the LCD screen whatsoever.

1. Turn ignition to accessories
2. Press PWR button to turn on unit
3. Press play/pause button for 2 seconds
4. Display should change to 0000
5. Enter the security code, hopefully the previous owner has it written down in one of the books

If you have lost / don't have the radio code you can head down to your local Mitsubishi dealer and they can look it up for you. I couldn't get the code for my 'rada that I purchased from a (non-Mitsubishi) dealer, but my local got me the code straight away. Just need to give them the VIN. :)
