View Full Version : TJ Magna - Outlander wheels?

Thought I'd check with the experts, I have a set of 18x7 (2008) Outlander wheels which I was planning to put on my TJ Magna. Doable?
I was looking at say 225/45R18 tyres for very similar wheel circumference to the existing 215/60R16 setup.
Obviously the Outlander wheels are also 114.3 and an acceptable offset... but what about the centrebore.. will I need hub rings? Anyone already tried this?
Appreciate any advice guys.

Turns out that Magna and Outlander hubs have the same centre bore (67.1) so all good - in case anyone was interested.
Keen to see these on a magna. They are hot rims

Good to know! Interesting :hmm: :kb:
They seem to be a straight fit. Offset is +38 which is perfect, PCD is 5x114.3 and the centre hub bore is the same as well.
I don't think anyone on this forum has even looked into fitting outlander wheels on the magna at all. Never seen a post before or a ride with them on.
The ZG XLS outlander has a really nice set of wheels and so do the new ZH VR-X series of outlanders. Both are 18" in size which would fill the guards nicely and look nice on a magna. They are only 7" wide which means you'd have the same problems as you do with CJ lancer wheels - needing more expensive 225mm wide tyres or stretch a set of 235mm tyres.
Are you going to be the first one to try it out and see how they look? :) ;)
I'd be happy to volunteer my car for you to put them onto ;)
I would like to see some pics if you get around to this though!
ell.

I considered them. Found a set with tyres in SA for $600. Mint condition. But tyre profile was wrong. They were A/T tyres.
Considered selling the gtv's though. Still am

I actually got these wheels (with rubber) for under 400, only one has a very small scratch, the other three are mint. But the tyres are not suitable, being 225/55.. so as soon as I can get some 225/45s onto them I'll post a pic for y'all. :)

Ooooo they are also very sexy!
Clean 5 spoke wheels like this look great on magna's.
Congrats on being a pioneer! Lead the revolution!
Soon you'll have every 2nd new member getting them just like the first person to fit CJ Lancer VRX wheels lol (I think it was "Dingers")

I've been looking at 18" OEM alloys for my 380 but unfortunately all the Lancer and Outlander rims are 7" wide, which just isn't enough to fill up the guards unfortunately :(
The flipside is that they're the same width as factory mags, so there won't be any clearance issues.

Maybe could do with lowering now?
 Me have exact one on the Mrs ZG Outlander XLS. I initially wanted to swap it over but ended up going aftermarket 18x8 for wider tyres.

Could only afford cheapies for now, found some 225/45R18s for $90ea fitted. (I spent most of my budget recently on extractors, exhaust and chip, plus the rims). The Magna's my project car - I recently bought a new SS, so when it's out of warranty I'll do some similar mods to it.

They look really good, I was contemplating the same move last year & ended up doing a similar thing so I got a set of 18 x 7.5in off a UK spec Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin Sport 4x4.
Good work(Y)

Fair enough GTVi.
Well, working within the rules, I can confirm that the "new" Delica D5 actually has Outlander running gear, rather than the Triton-based drivetrain on the old Delicas. This means 5-stud wheels, ~38 offset and 67.1 centre bore. They look like this:
http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAyNFg3Njg=/z/TGEAAOxyHltSQ2YS/$T2eC16Z,!zQFIcDQETiQBSQ2YR)flw~~48_20.JPG
What does this mean for Magnas? They share the same stud pattern, offset and centre bore, so when people (like myself) decide to change from the japanese-standard 225/55 R18 wheels + tyres to something more suited to off-road work, these wheels will come up occasionally on gumtree/ebay etc. In my experience, people with imported cars are generally more likely to modify them, so Delica D5 wheels are more likely to come up than, say, Outlander wheels - especially the 18's.
I know how hard it is to find Outlander wheels, so if you're interested in fitting cheap 18 inch Enkeis to your Magna you may have more luck looking for Delica D5 wheels instead.
