I'm installing a reverse camera and its powered at the front behind the Unit. The H/Unit also has a reverse signal in - In the Harness..

Where is the easiest place to tap in and get the reverse signal?, I'd rather not run a wire 3/4 the length of the car to pull this off...

Any help appreciated!!!

I still think its easier.... Plus still need to run the Video lead from the Camera to the Headunit....

If you haven't been able to tell, its quite clear from the first post, that I know how to do that, its not easier, its just that we don't know how to do it the other way...So I'll wait for someone to tell me....

Sparky or Mike will be along soon...

Thanks anyway ;)

Marty, unless you can intercept the loom (difficult) between the reverse lights & the auto transmission you may have to run to the rear. I had the same dilemma as per circuit diagram. It's pretty well engine bay or tail lights ......

Seeing as we are on the hard stuff, Is it possible, in theory of coure, to wire up the video inhibitor switch that usually goes to the Parkbrake, to connect it to the demister as well, so it would work without the Park Brake on..

Generally the park brake sensor in the stereo just needs to be earthed in order for video to work at all times.

When you say the camera is powered at the front, does that mean it is always on when the car is in acc/on? If not then when does the camera get power? There are cameras available on eBay that runs fully off the reverse light. That is, gets power from it in order to turn on and also sends the same power, together with the video back to the headunit as a trigger wire. Either way, as Foozrcool said, you will need to run a power trigger cable from the rear unless you can find a dedicated backup lamp fuse in the footwell fuse box and tap into it using an add-a-circuit fuse tap.

Unfortunately the reverse light fuse will be running more than just reverse lights so it may come on when say the brake or whatever is used too. Actually Marty after reading vlad's post, I am now curious about the power arrangements for the camera??? ...... oh & hope you aren't serious about the demister lol ..... what are you really trying to achieve here??

My reverse camera (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-Reverse-Backup-Rear-Parking-Camera-Mitsubishi-380-/320658848845?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4aa8c1bc4d) gets its power from my reverse parking sensors. At least, that's where I chose to wire it up to.

Well if the demister is hooked into the wire that prevents video (avi/dvd) etc..I'll be able to snuggle up the missus and watch videos without the hand brake on ( ;) ).. So what if the park brake light comes on with demister..
And the reverse cameta is as described, the camera lead carries the power lead as well, breaking out just before the video rca output..
Its currently wired to accs. It can quickly turned on at the moment....

Thanks again...Marty..

That is fine if you don't have a towbar. I have an isolation switch to turn the reverse sensor off when towing.

Probably, however utilizing a reverse camera whilst towing would probably be counter-productive any way. I daresay using your mirrors would be much more useful when reversing with a trailer. Of course, I could be wrong.

This is going slightly off topic but I plan to use one of those swivel type cameras so when towing, especially low trailers that you cannot see easilly, especially going up/down driveways, to help with manouvering via the camera. That way, I can see it going off course before it is too late.

Think I have it sorted, use the existing power cable in the camera wiring, tap into the positive, power the camera, and positive turn on, off the reverse bulb...

you could pull it off the reverse LED in the speedo assembly.

but you better be damn good at soldering.
