When I Removed my rear windscreen I absolutely wrecked that rubber moulding that is part of the window, Just wondering if you can buy this piece new or is it another window job?

Yes it's a new part from Mitsubishi

Anyone had any luck getting this part? My local dealer said I need a new rear window.

You could say this is a 'bump' but I'm getting close to installing the rear window and would love to know this :)

Forgive my ignorance, but can you just buy some sort of rubber moulding from Clarkies and just stick that on?

I replaced my rear windscreen and the installer used some rubber that I don't think is genuine. I highly doubt he had the time to go down to Mitsy and get one and probably not for the $50 he asked to fit the windscreen either.

Well for anyone who encounters this issue, My local Mits said that with the rear window its a single part with the moudling.

What I Did was remove all the encapsulated moudling, and just glue the rear window in by itself.

After I grabbed a TF Rear window moulding and it clipped straight onto the glass.
With the lower piece it was just sikaflexed into place, I wasn't wanting to drill holes in the bodywork.

Looks the part and cost nothing.

If anyone wants I can grab a pic or two

How much is a new rear window, do you know?
Would be interested in seeing pics.

You'll be looking at somewhere between $300-400 for one plus fitting. Well that was the cost for one about 2 years ago.

I ended up fitting a 2nd hand one off a TF. Passed RWC no problems and cost me less than $140 including fitting (cash-in-hand job ftw!)

Looks like the TF ones are removable. I remember I only gave the window fitter the plain glass, and by the time he was done it had a black rubber surround on it.

Typical dealer response. When my high-mount brake light fell off, the dealer took one look and said a new rear window is required. I ended up getting the high-temp silicon based sikaflex black sealant and fixed it my self. Valitank, have you applied weight on the glass to ensure a proper seal?

Rubbish Photos, but you will see how it looks :)

IIRC Jakeys the dealer wanted 340 minus freight - This would probably have added a few dollars in my case living in a somewhat rural location.

vlad - Could relate to that story on a few counts to, and Yes, I installed the windows with the assistance of a panel beater :)

Was going to use a TF Screen as well, but I wanted to maintain the top mounted brake light and not have one on the parcel shelf. - I don't think there was ever a black parcel shelf with a lower brake light anyway, as the TF sports I have has the 3rd light in the spoiler

Best part about doing this way is I wont have that deterioration finish on the seal like most TH-TW's have

Looks good mate. Well done. Mine is exactly the same.

Mine was done by the friend of the panel beaters. He only asked $50 to install it so can't complain!

I was searching for a screen when demand was high so I was quoted around $380 + GST (had to be imported due to local stuck running out).

In the end I used a TF rear windscreen. If you mount up to the original location, the high-mounted brake light is still visible from the rear screen because the black area at the top is shorter than the TH-TW ones. I've tested this myself. You'd only not see it if you're a truck and super close. Not that you'd really see too much anyway from the TH-TW setup.
If you're super scared about not being able to see the brake light from 2.5-3 meters above the ground (test this with a ladder) then all you need to do is lower the brake light and then you'll be fine.

What do you mean the TH-W high-mount is not very visible?

If you have a TE/TF rear windscreen, the high-mount brake light in the TH-TW is not as visible as if you actually had the TH-TW windscreen, as they actually have a cut-out where the light of the brake light shines through. However, the TE/TF rear windscreens have a much shorter black area at the top, so the bottom of the brake light shines through nicely.

Like I said, a TE/TF screen with a TH-TW high mount brake light is very easy to see at the level where any car would be, but a truck that has a vision higher than 2.5-3m won't see it well. A truck should never be traveling close enough to not see your rear brake light.

Fair enough. I thought you mean they are not that good even in a TH-TW.

Cool, good source of info here. Reason I ask is because I dewinged and thus do not have a high mount brake light. As a GTV, my windscreen doesn't have the cutout for once so I can't go stock without replacing the windscreen, and the parcel shelf one from the older models looks like shit and was never available in my parcel shelf colour (Black) anyway.
Looks like my only option is replace windshield or some universal bit?

Jake, I gave a rear parcel shelf with the lower brake light in BLACK if you want to have a look.
I used it in mine for a while and have several brake lights as well.

Yeahh, s'pose I should for legality's sake. At least interim. Can you bring it next fortnightly meet? Or a pic anyway. Will look a bit dodge on a KJ but better than nothing. A workmate today told me I have a tail light out (Must be very recent) so I'm down to one now. Wouldn't wanna get rear ended :S

Why would it look dodgy? Only you and Verada freaks are going to notice the difference. At least it is factory and not a dodgy add on like some one...
