So I've finally bought a new head unit - an Alpine CDE-110E - and I'm having issues with the wiring harness. The wiring harness on the head unit completely matches the Mitsu 1 plug wiring harness that I bought from Autobarn except for one wire on each of the wires. A blue (or a blue striped, I will confirm later) wire is left without a partner and a red (I think, or possibly orange) from the other harness.
My question is, do these match eachother or not?

Leave them, don't connect them tape them up if you wish.

Sorry - silly question but does the unit power on / work ? That wire may not be used or necessary.
I didn't use an adapter, I just cut the harness off and wired it manually, and I can't remember wire colours, but I'm pretty sure they were not all required.

Ok to clarify - a blue wire is on the Alpine harness and an orange with white stripe is on the new Mitsubishi one. And I have not taken out my old head unit because I'm wiring up the harnesses and taking apart the car on the weekend :)

One should be remote/pwr antenna, and the other probably illumination.

I think the Blue one in for the power anttenar and the orange in illumination (shouldnt need to connect this wire)

Yup, generally, blue with a white stripe is a remote wire to an amp and orange is illumination. I would have thought that the H/U would have had illumination?

I recently had this issue with a pioneer unit and this blue wire is a remote wire which you can use for an amp but not a power antenna cos if you hook this wire up to it the antenna stays up when using cd or ipod etc so i put in a seperate switch to turn of the antenna when not needed.

Hi - can you pls clarify something for me... I'm VERY new to auto electrics (in fact, I've never done any mods at all. Ever!) and yesterday I successfully installed a new[to me] alpine CDE-9852 (after scratching my head trying to figure out what each coloured wire means *laughs*)... I say 'successful' with one exception... The antenna in my 2003 series II TJ won't go up when I turn the unit on..? I've checked the connections, that they're all tight... Any suggestions?

You'll need to connect the Blue wire from the alpine loom, to the pink wire of your car behind the H/Unit...
