Sooo... just moved back home to Tassie and brought the rada with us. Will need to have inspection before I can transfer the rego, so pulled into a registered inspection station after work. $125 for the inspect and his initial thoughts were only issue might be the tint as it looks too dark.
I believe the tint is factory - can anyone confirm this? How can I confirm it?
The photo on my profile is not my car, but it IS identical..
Advice muchos appreciated...

IF it came from factory with the tint applied then it complied with the necessary ADRs, therefore should be roadworthy

Thanks ammerty, so any ideas how i can confirm it did? The previous (one) owner bought it directly from an Adelaide dealer. It was one of their rep cars.

Some option codes are listed here: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32231&page=4&highlight=E35
E35 = 3.L S4 V6
D05= 5 speed auto
However, J49 and Z73 aren't on there. Z73 sounds super cool though. Machine guns in the headlights perhaps?

My understanding is that there is no factory tinting. If it has tint then it was arranged aftermarket by the dealer.

Found the contact number of the previous owner, turns out they did tint it afterall... but they say it was legal. Will try and dig the specs and send to me, otherwise i just have to hope it does pass. Loooooks ok to me ... :-s

Not easy to DIY. You would be better off ripping the tint off for roadworthy, then re-tinting legally.
..GONE..

Did the previous owner advise you what grade tint they applied to the windscreen..?
Plus, if they have any previous paperwork regarding the tinting, that would also be handy, so you can show the inspection agent.
eg. I got knocked back for the tint on my car, where it was a dealer fitted option - All good though, ripped out the paperwork and showed Mr Police Man. He was satisfied.

$70 to remove tint is ok, but i love the car with the timt.... $300 to re-tint...
sufz - 35% but no paperwork to prove it... unfortunately i saw the light meter reading - 26% so i dont have much to stand on.
think im screwed..... major bummer... :-(

There is minor colour in the glass, sfa but add 35% film and 26% sounds right
Will tas accept fronts clear or whole car as you could just do front door windows

second reply, first didnt post..........
$70 to remove tint isnt too bad i thought, but i wanted to keepnthe tint because i like it. $300 to re-tint...
sufz - 35% but no paperwork to prove it.. i saw the light meter - 26% and the tolerance was 30% allowing forn5% error i think im screwed unfortunately.....

wow ok it did post....
mal - all round has to be 35%. and i agree, think they did just add 35% film instead if making up to the limit...
so if too hard/expensive to replace glass think ill just remove...

Law is 35% Plus or minus 5% tolerance so generally you will get away with 30 if the inspector is having a good day

Dealers are notorious for fitting non-standard and non-complying items.
Also, if you look closely, some tint companies put a sticker on with their name and the percentage tint, between the tint film and the glass. Nevertheless, they should not have put any on the windscreen as factory tinted screens are 70% which is the max for a windscreen.

Have no fear - you can easily do it yourself ;)
Here's a vid on how to remove your tint:

Then a vid on how to fit tint

Hit up "http://showusyourtints.com.au/" and buy quality tint. You could probably get enough tint to cover your car with a good amount left over for around $150.
35% VLT is the darkest legal tint in any state.
