So i'll start by saying I've read through the forums as I find them interesting but haven't posted anything till now.

I just recently had a RHS Front Power Window stop working. I took off the door trim and had a look inside and sure enough the cable is frayed and jammed up in the regulator gearing. I called the local mechanics and ask how much a new regulator and fitment would be and they quoted me $550. I told them politely where they could shove that price...

Been technically minded I thought I'd surely be able to fix a power window regulator. So i brought the regulator cabling and gearing off eBay and downloaded a Workshop manual from here and went to work. Now I tell you what I started it tonight, the doors apart and the regulator is out and in pieces. I've assessed all the parts that i hadn't brought and they appear to be in good working order. I've removed the gearing and frayed cable... This is where it goes to custard. I've got the new cable on the gearing and have it pretty much assembled, but the last bit of cable just won't go into place. Almost like the cable is too short or the cable sheath is too long.

I was just wondering is anyone else here has had a crack at repairing the regulator unit and if so, do you guys have any tricks?

I've been through the forums and couldn't find anything on here about repairing the regulator, a lot about replacing it or giving the motor a good whack. Also YouTube helped me understand how to wind the cable onto the gearing but it was for a different car and looked a lot easier to assemble.

Any well would be greatly appreciated. Hoping the wealth of knowledge on here can help me out.

Cheers.

Great respect for your efforts in repairing it. Me being lazy I would have gone to the wreckers and got a replacement.
I did a quick search for it and from what had been said on the forums here the TL and TJ regulators seem to be identical.

I finally fixed the power window. I had to use a few guys to give me a hand to pull back the regulator springs till they were maxed out so we could slip the cable over the final pulley. It was pretty easy to fit the regulator after repairing it. But I did notice i needed a friend to help me hold the window in place as there isn't any door frame to tape the window to. But all in all, a frustrating mission but well worth $480 I saved in doing it myself.
