Everyone I speak to on my bluetooth kit complains they can barely hear me. I can hear them fine.

I have the factory bluetooth kit, flashed to the latest firmware.

Adjusting the in call volume on my phone doesn't do anything. I have a Motorola Defy (Android 2.2).

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Related: would it be plug-and-play to upgrade the microphone on the kit? I wonder if a microphone mounted on the windscreen or steering column would make things better.

I got improvement, particularly in clarity, by just easing the mic outside the speaker grill

An easier one to try in first instance!

The mic is plug and play but wiring route a bit convoluted. Not sure if enough spare wire to get it to top of pillar near sun visor

Thanks mate, I'll give that a go!

Is the mic behind the air con vent originally? If so, how do I remove the vent?

Speaker grill pops off by gently levering up rear edge with plastic or taped tool to prevent scratch

Mic just therte, but can alos undo vent when grill off

See diuagram on p52 A5 of the wksp manual

take the pillar bit off and you can pry the grill off with your hands.
