Today when bleeding my brakes, upon tightening the last bleeder screw it snapped! Thankfully it is completely in there and not leaking, but obviously I want to replace it :S. I worked out I can use one of those broken screw/nut remover things where you drill a small hole in the centre, hammer them in, and then unscrew them, of course I won't be drilling as the bleed things are hollow.
Anyways, the question is in regards of where to get a replacement, short of going to a wreckers and getting an old one off a car. I looked around online and couldn't find one for the Magna, but the cost of other bleed valves does look very attractive enough to buy a couple of them instead of using fuel to drive to the wreckers.
So, whereabouts can I go to buy them? Anyone purchased new ones before? I want to get ones of the correct size. I quickly rang Supercheap Auto before closing time tonight and they had no idea what I was talking about. At first I think the girl on the other end of the phone was offended when I used the term 'nipple'... at least it wasn't face to face!

Try Repco, Supercheap (don't ask, look around), etc. A brake shop would definitely have them.
Bought some once - leaving the little cap off makes them go rusty inside apparently - but I can't remember where.
Wreckers are still a good idea.
If you can't get the old bit out without damaging the thread, you will need to get another caliper - also from the wreckers.

Ah ok! Might have to head to the wreckers then, but I'll try removing the old nipple first and replacing it with a new one if I can. The little broken bolt extractors (can't think of the name, bought it from Bunnings) should hopefully do the trick though. I was thinking better to have a new nipple than one that has rusted or has a deteriorated cap, which you would possible expect on a used one. I'll check around tomorrow for these nipples, hopefully they're not too hard to get! Just wasn't sure how car specific they were, or whether they are universal (like a nut size) or loosely universal like spark plugs/oxygen sensors. Only reason why I rang was it was around 5.20PM, so had no chance on getting there before closing.
If it plays nice for me it will be a lot cheaper easier and quicker to do what I intend, as there is only the cost of the nipples (which I'd buy anyway), and saves a trip to the wreckers.
Thanks :) I'll let you know how it turns out! (will try and get the nipples tomorrow, and hopefully do it Sunday).

if you try to get nipple from a wreck give it the caliper a tap with a hammer before you try to undo it
broken bolt extractors/ sometime's called easy outs

Try Mitsubishi. It might not be expensive and it will be brand new.
Also, if you are going to use cheap 'easy-outs' use the type that are square and not those with a reverse spiral. The reverse spiral type are also called 'easy-breaks'. I would think that you will need to dismantle the caliper and heat it with a hot air gun before you use the easy out.

A ok! I'll keep that in mind :) I can't get to the auto places today, so will have to do that tomorrow morning, and hopefully get to it tomorrow afternoon. Even though it's completely sealed it's not something that I feel comfortable leaving for a long time :)

You don't have to drain the brakes through the nipple. It is easier, but not necessary. It is possible to drain back to the point where the pipe meets the brake calliper.
Hit up the wreckers and try to find a caliper that doesn't look horrendously dirty and old. Generally, the lower the kms the better chance that it won't have rusted through or been caked in dirt, however there's no guarantees and one could argue that if it had heaps of kms but regularly serviced (i.e. brakes bled every 3 years) then it would be easy to remove.
Take a spanner and use the closed end at the wreckers to move the nipple on the caliper of the selected car. A local Pick a part with lots of magna's would be best, thankfully any fwd third gen has the same brakes so anything from TE-TW would fit.

Went around to a couple of auto places this afternoon, they don't stock them since each car has a different bleed nipple and they're not high demand products. One auto place did suggest a brake and clutch place, I'll check them out tomorrow. Hopefully if they don't have them in they can order them.

Well, finally got a bleeder nipple from a brake and clutch place, will fit it later this this. I hope the size is right! (should be). The rear uses M7x1.0mm, and the front uses M10x1.0mm nipples. The 'M' just stands for metric.
The M7x1.0 nipple was $4.
