I vaguely remember a thread about someone removing/cutting the metal plate behind the arm cushion to allow subwoofer air to pass into the cabin. But I can't find it, if it was even on this website it could've been somewhere else.
But has anyone tried this? And was it just mere cutting that plate to the size of the opening in the arm rest or just the size of the vent and have it extend in?
For extra sound, or so the boot shuts properly if you seal up the air exit vents in the boot?

Extra sound, my bad I shoulda stated that.
Not sure, but that metal plate unbolts if you want to try and see if its any louder depending on how your subs are positioned, otherwise just open the hatch in the middle of the back seat?

Hatch? The little storage bin in the back seat? That's what I was referring to, but theres no access into the trunk from that. right now the subs are positioned facing the back of the car.if it helps any I believe my car is most similar to a tj
In all our cars the mid section folds down and there are cupholders in that, then there is a plastic wall that folds down as well if you want trunk access. Do you have a picture of your back seat with the storage bin open?

I don't but I'll go take one and upload a picture. Sweet you have cupholders, mines just a armrest. I didn't even know the plastic wall folded down, I'll go pull that and see whats behind there. I know that metal plate is across the whole back, so if I can just unbolt it without the seats caving in that'd be perfect! But I'll def take a picture.

Hmm that does look a bit different, ours have a latch up the top and then it just folds down...

Hah! Crazy. I noticed you're an international member. Where from, exactly?
Maybe pics of in the boot looking towards the front of the vehicle?

From California in the USA. Which is terrible for parts for this thing but we love it - just not the gas :P. I'll see what I can do my subwoofers are in that spot and were having family over tonight to it may be tomorrow when I can get that.

If you remove the carpet panel from the boot side, that plastic part can undo. There is already a hole in the metal for that.
The USA cars do not have the fold down panel, unless specifically ordered for ski's

Alright, got a pic of back there. This is all I have, so it looks like I may have to get back there and cut it out if I want to do this.

Shit sorry mate.
I forgot about the different pressing. Yes we have a large opening where that area is. Just out of curiousity, do you have the plate screwed in under the parcel shelf? In early cars this was a blanking plate for a sub mount. It may be another option.

Your golden, no worries. To what it seemed to me is that this plate is held on with nuts onto plates on each side of it., but the weird part is that the nuts almost look welded on as well.
But, I'll go and double check it all later on, gotta leave for work here in about 3 minutes.
You can see two of the nuts I'm talking about in the top right corner of the picture though.
