So, I bought a 2nd-hand Unichip from another member here, and now need to look at install/tuning. I called a local place (they were listed as a dealer on the Unichip website) and the bloke was basically clueless. He said they get Unichips pre-tuned, had no idea about harnesses for the older models or even what he'd charge for install (and doesn't do tuning).. what the?

Anybody with info about installation or where in Sydney I can have it done, please help me out?

Thanks.

Unless you are going with a turbo or supercharger, I expect you will have less problems and get better results getting your factory ECU reflashed. I have personally used Hitman Tuning in Penrith, and I believe there are at least two other tuners in the Sydney area who have tuned TJ/KJ onwards 3rd gens belonging to members this way.

Hitman Tuning will also tune using interceptors, but you'd have to contact them to find out about installation.

See also the thread linked in my signature for more information about reflashing these ECUs...

Hitman no longer tunes i believe, works for Haltech now.

Dont bother with Unichip, it was good back in the days when few people could retune factory ECU.

PM me if you want contact info of a tuner...

Thanks for the info guys. I did a bit more research and found some Unichip mappings (schematics showing how to wire it to the ECU) but comparing to the ECU pinouts in the workshop manual they don't seem quite right). There is a few versions, for different Unichip models etc.

Anyway I guess I'll look at an ECU reflash/retune. Cheers.

Just saying the only advantage to a unichip is that pretty much any decent garage can tune it, our magna ecu will need the definitions and usually the garage will need to specialise in evos to know how to do it.
