I tried to start my car on the week-end, and it wouldn't start! Turns out it was the starter motor, it had died and needed replacing. I was quite suprised by this, being in a gen 3, only 5 years old..... how long do starter motors normally last???

My KS starter motor lasted till last year from 1995. Its normal wear and tear so depends on
how many times you start your car a day and also whether you've stuffed it up by not letting
go of the key quickly enough.

my 1st Gen's starter motor lasted from 1985 to 2002 before I had to replace it. It was a manual though, So I guess on a few occassions, I was push starting it. hehe.. but now I have a 3rd Gen, I've changed a Battery so far, haven't touched the Starter Motor yet, hopefully I won't need to for a while to come! it's a 98 TF.

I was lucky, cause that warranty that you get when you buy from a used car dealer covered the total cost of replacing the starter motor  and RACQ covered the towing costs... so all in all, I was with out the car for a day..... :D
