A little help? Yesterday my battery completely died. I replaced it with a brand new one and whenever I try to start it I get completely nothing, even though my electrics are starting up. I have a '99 Verada Ei, and I've read that you need to hold the "mode" button in for a few seconds and it should reset the computer and away you go. This hasnt worked for me. I've had a mate suggest it could be the immobiliser kicking in? I dont have key-less entry (lost the buttons) so not sure how I would manually bypass or reset this.
Would anyone have any ideas? Any help would be awesome. Cheers

Not the battery then, unless the connections are dirty or not tight.
Mode button not relevant, car should start without setting anything.
Immobiliser can't be bypassed, turning the key in the lock is enough to disable it, car would crank but not fire up if the immobiliser was the problem.
Could be the starter motor.

Thanks so much for your quick reply.
I'm not really mechanically minded, so I had no idea what the problem could be. Is the starter motor an expensive fix?

If your an NRMA roadside assist member, just call them and they will confirm if it is a Starter Motor. They fit the item for nothing if you purchase off them, well thats what I did. I think it was mid $200's but don't quote me on that

Thanks for that. Not a member.... but looks like i'm going to be :/
Cheers guys
Your key should be chipped and bypass the remote issue. If you are with ultra tune servicing, you may have free roadside assist.

Is the battery charged? Check the terminals with a multimeter. If you get a low reading, charge the battery. Clean the terminals with a wire brush and make sure that they are on tight. Why did you replace the battery to start with? Was it this issue? Did you check that with a mechanic or someone mechanically minded?

I once had a bad connection where the battery wire is swaged to the terminal - if you have that style of terminal.
